About Broadway Advocacy Coalition

In 2016 a group of Broadway actors and activists joined together to answer a question: How can the arts play a more meaningful role in creating a just world? Frustrated by both the country's and theater industry's response - or lack thereof - to the nation's pandemic of racism, those "artivists" sensed a different strategy was needed to tackle today's most pressing issues. That impulse grew into the Broadway Advocacy Coalition: a boundary-pushing advocacy nonprofit utilizing workshops, coalition building, leadership development, and Impact Projects to create more humane policies. Led by a team of visionary artivists, educators, and advocates, BAC is creating a new way to collaborate towards a just world. Through our workshops, fellowships and Impact Projects we convene artists, change leaders and individuals impacted by systemic racism and oppression to build the capacity and coalitions that fuel systemic change.
